Finding the Beauty in Simplicity

Untitled

It has taken me a while but I have finally learnt to appreciate and enjoy the little and, arguably, mundane things in my life. As much as I want to be adventuring on the weekends, I am now content to spend that time doing routine activities. These activities include, inter alia, grabbing a teh tarik from the food court, helping my boyfriend wash his car and even shopping for groceries to meal prep for the coming week.

I used to place so much pressure on myself as I thought that if I wasn't doing "big" things then I wasn't living a full life. Truth be told, this stemmed from various things: discontentment with my career, FOMO from Instagram and the pervasive narrative that if you aren't a 'girl boss' or a 'digital nomad / entrepreneur' then life was sub par.*

Don't be mistaken - I am not cutting out my love of exploring. Rather, I am not succumbing to self-imposed pressures and am learning to appreciate the beauty in living a simpler and quieter life.

  1. This! So much this! I still want to go exploring as much as I possibly can but sometimes, it never hurts to just stay at home and routine things.

    Lovely photos, as usual, Nat!
