Life Update

When people ask me what my hobbies are, I usually say something along the lines of: hiking, travelling and film photography. But what I usually forget is that blogging is definitely the hobby that I have maintained the longest. I have been blogging in some capacity since 2005. That is a decade of blogging. A decade of sharing my life online. There aren't too many people in my "real life" that know about this hobby and to be quite frank, it isn't something I disclose either. Long are the days of my private LiveJournal, but I still prefer having the separation between my "real life" and my "online world".

What I also find interesting is how I - and a lot of other bloggers - have changed over the past few years. The days of text heavy posts have now been replaced with posts with large images with minimal text interspersed throughout. I wonder if it is because people have a shorter attention span or simply, people just don't have the time to read that much text anymore. I too am guilty of making my "posts" look pretty and I am usually reluctant to submit something without at least one photo. But this will be a post without a photo; a challenge to myself. I have now been spending a lot of time with someone who is a) not familiar with my blogging hobby and b) does not document their life in photos in any capacity. This has made it a little harder for me to take photos, but truth be told, is this really a problem? There was a point a few months ago where I thought that I was succumbing to the current mentality of: 'if you didn't take a photo, were you really there?'

Onto the things that has happened in my life in the past few months which I did not document photographically.

  • Went on a rowboat in Lane Cove National Park.
  • Visited Luna Park and went on the rides for the first time.
  • Visited Malaysian Festival
  • Watched Les Miserables and it was amazing. It is probably my second favourite musical (first one is Wicked)
  • Eaten at: Hurricanes, Three Williams, Devon, Brewtown Newtown, Mary's and Rengaya

Yes, this seems to be quite a boring post. But at the end of the day, I blog for myself and this is what I want to produce for my blog.
